How to analyze data?

We designed PARTIMAP to be simple, clear and logical to use for people of all ages.

The process from drafting a questionnaire on paper all the way to data collection is usually straightforward. But what happens once the survey has closed? How do you get started with analyzing the data?

First step: Get to know your respondents!

Before drawing any conclusions, it is worth considering who actually filled in the survey.

Ask yourself the following questions:

• Where are the respondents from?
• How did they come across the survey?
• Through which channels did it reach them?

For example, if you shared the survey in a Facebook group, the results primarily reflect the views of that group's members, not the position of a whole municipality or an entire target group.

💡 Tip: When interpreting the results, always keep in mind who the survey reached.

Who might have been left out?

If the survey was only available online, or you only promoted it on certain forums and social media platforms, some groups have probably remained underrepresented.

These may include, for example:

• older people,
• people with lower levels of education,
• people living in poorer financial circumstances.

Their views can often only be reached through other data collection methods, such as approaching them in person.
